| | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 122 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 122 | Wiring up my 61-261 fresh rebuild on a test stand and left the coil wire connected to the battery for a couple of hours but did not start the engine. Found that the newly purchased coil was so hot you could barely touch it. The wire from the battery to the coil was noticeably warm and the wire from the coil to the distributor was room temp. The coil is 12v and has an internal resistor. I'm wondering if this is normal and if I ruined the coil. The coil is most likely OK.

Personally I'd just stay up late and get it running now! Well less you have to worry about waking up the neighbors.

Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.
