I am in process of replacing the windshield on my 1955 GMC 1st series 1 ton panel. Will the 1/2 ton windshield fit this truck? One supplier says they do not sell Parts for panel trucks so they do not know if the windshield fits. Also comments about the interchange of door glass would be appreciated, Thanks, Horace Hudson

Windshield and door glass will interchange (they are the same parts/cab 1/2 ton through 1 ton).

The GMC and Chevrolet truck dash parts are different in 54/55, but the cab windows are the same for 1/2-1 ton trucks.

tclederman... There is a Chevrolet emblem showing over the first part of your name so I do not have your complete computer name. Anyway, Thanks for your reply and the information. I had informal info that the windshields were the same but now I have confirmation. I plan to get the windshield and door glass ordered ASAP, Thanks for your reply. Horace Hudson.

If it is flat glass you should be able to get it at your local glass shop. I had both of my windshields replaced at Runnel's glass in Cleburne. I supplied the new rubber, they cut the new glass from a flat panel of windshield glass and installed for a total of $215.
