1936 1.5 ton, how much oil goes in the rear U-joint plug in the back of the transmission. It should feed the center carrier U-joint also and stopped by a seal from draining into the differential. I just renwewed all the cork gaskets in the bell couplers but I don't have a clue how much oil goes in.....thanks guys.

Trans. oil is usually meant to be filled to the point where it runs out the hole when filled, that's how one knows when to stop.

Ed, this is in back of the trans. the fill plug is on top. this fill is for lubricating the U-joint that is just after the output shaft. It is enclosed when put together and connects the splined mid shaft to the mid carrier u-joint which is also enclosed. I'm talking about the entire mid assembly of a torque tube. There has to be the same setup in later trucks till about '39.

If your talking about the extra shaft behind the trans and before the torque tube in the 1936 1.5 ton trucks, what do they call that the mid-shaft? I tried to look that up in the on line books here and couldn't find the amount of oil or what kind of oil to use either. anybody know? I read they use to fill it with that zerk fitting on top of the rear of the trans and the used pour oil at the factory. i am sure somebody here knows what to use and how much should be put in. Because i need to know too.

I found this out, they used 1 pound of pour oil in it, it was SAE160 in the summer and SAE90 in the winter.

Close enough to figure out, where did you find that out?
