I intstalled a 235 that had been rebuilt about 17 years ago. it has been bagged up until this October, when i put it in. I'm comfortable that it was a good rebulid from a qualtiy shop. However I have about 2 hours of run time on it "tweeking up and down the dirt road" It runs like a top. However I have notice that once warm about every 5 min it will smoke a little for about 30 sec and stop. no change in running whatsoever. Am I in big trouble soon? Is it going to get worse? or all normal? rings sitting too long or too old even though they were new 17 years ago? Please advise thank you MIKE

Valve seals can dry out and crack. If it is that then it is an easy fix.
I think you need to put some miles on it though to make sure the rings are seated.
What year is the 235?

17 years is a long time for something to be sitting, you need to give it a chance. You mentioned new valve guides, did that include seals? If so which type of seal? I had umbrella seals on the last engine, and it did the same thing, just every once in a while a puff of smoke. it was like some oil just worked its way past the valve guide and dripped into the exhaust port.
