I have a 41 1/2t pu with a straight axle. The truck is completely done, paint and all. It steers like a truck. I have a mid 70s steering column (tilt), pump and ect. can someone tell me how to do this. I have been told that this can be done. HELP HELP

what does "steers like a truck" mean? all my trucks steer like a car .... if you're wanting power steering, it'll not be simply bolting something it, you'll need a lot of bits and pieces to adapt things to your specific configuration .... apparently you've modified things from original already .... not likely to find anyone here that can tell you how to fix what you've done with yet more modifications

What is the "etc." ? (ect.) What parts might that be?

if you have all the brackets and pullys to mount the pump to your motor so every thing lines up . you can use a rear steer power steering box from a 69 nova. you will have to cut the steering shaft that goes to your box . fit a support bearing in the bottom of the steering tube. make a plate to mount the nova box . modify the steering arm and get borgeson steering joints & shaft to conect the steering column to the nova box . then have the hoses made. it is a pain to do

A little more information on what mod's you have already made to your truck - ie. what engine you have installed - is the truck totally stock now ?, etc. would be helpful.
You might try a search of the Forum - I'm sure I have seen some posts over the years concerning power steering mods to straight axles. I have a mid-seventies tilt column installed in my '40. You can use the same hanger location under the dash ( with a new bracket ). As Leonard said, need to support the bottom of the column, then a matter of routing the shaft with borgeson joints and bearings to connect to whatever box you end up with. Lots of brackets available for small block chevies - not sure about the various sixes. Maybe try " Bills Hotrod Accessories " - they have a multitude of applications.

I have a 350 sbc with 350 trany the reason I want ps is so its easier to drive. I have a mid 70s ps box, pump and mounting brackets. I thought someone might have done something like what I want to do.

Have a look at Classic Performance Parts, or No Limits Engineering. They make kits for '47 & up. Might be able to make it work on your setup.

One of the other things you will have to figure out is the pressure line from the pump to the box. If you want to go JIC or AN fittings, there are companies out there that make adapters. With GM pumps and boxes, you want to make sure it is either standard or metric. Trying to go from one style to another can be a bear. That's where the JIC fittings come in handy.

If you have offset wheels, that can make steering harder, have you overhauled your existing box and linkeage, kingpins, etc?

What do you mean off set wheels? The steering is stock , never touched except for mat. Ron
