I have the front clip off my 1951 for engine swap. What are the Pros and Cons of not replacing the Fender Welt when reinstalling clip? Can the old be reused or is new required? This stuff is about 6-8 years old.Thanks Jerry

Squeak sounds are louder and more abundant.

Right on the mark, Mark! Although we often refer to it as fender
welting and that's what I've always called it and it's usually
listed in the catalogs as such, but GM's call out is "anti-squeak"
so that should give you a clues as what their intention was for
the application.
I wouldn't bother with the old stuff, that would be like reusing
a head gasket in my book. Welting is cheap and avalable everywhere.
I just picked some up from JC Whitney that they listed for a VW.

I've heard of folks using the tar paper (you know, the stuff you put down under roof shingles) with success. I think you are talking about the seal between the rear of the front fenders and the cab right?

My opinion , the materials are not expensive, you already have the clip off, I would put new on. It's about $1/foot. You might be sorry you didn't, won't be sorry you did.
