Folks,
I know theres info on this but thought I would ask again. I have a 1950 3600 with the original 6V system. I purchased two new tail light assemblies. I have signal lights added that work fine now (temp lights as the truck is being painted and the bed is off)....

So my question is...

Since the new light assemblies handle both brake and running lights, can't I just tie my signal light in to the brake light wire? There are two bulbs that goes in each light assembly with two wires (which I assume are running lights and brake lights) and the ground is picked up when the assembly is bolted in place... (by the way, they are 12V bulbs also.. need 6V)

Seems I remember when trying this, both brake lights came on when the signal was applied?

Anyone have any suggestions?

PS, for the front, I'm going to get a double filament socket for the parking lights... I think that will work???

Unless you have a switch that integrates the brake lights into the system you must run separate lights. You can not just tie the signal into the existing brake light circuit if it is not designed for it.

Original 6V truck. I assume if I try to tie in to the brake light wire, when the signal is working, both brake lights will light up as I think they are tied in together at the brake light switch.

What about changing the running light socket on the rear to a double filament? OR, should I return the lights and go after something aftermarket?

If there are 2 sockets in your housing you can covert one to dual filament and use it for tail and brake and the other for signal. The only problem with that is you'll have a bright bulb and a flashing bulb in the same lens. The flash may be hard to detect.

If you are determined to use the same housing for all you need to get a 7 wire switch and wire it right.
