I ordered a door skin for my 46.Has anyone put one on?When I was a sheetmetal worker I would have made one,but now that I am working as a millwright,I don't have as much access to the tools and metal as I used to.I could make one but by the time I got the metal,bothered a friend to let me in his shop ,it is just easier to by a skin and put it on in my garage.I just wondered if there are any heads up putting a skin on.like where the best place to make the splice?

I got the door skin today,and it is flanged at the top near the belt in the sheetmetal on the door,so the splice is predetermand by the maker of the door skin.I did not know it was flanged and ordered a flanger to make the splice a little easier.My welder has .035 wire and it tough to weld the sheetmetel with because it so hot..023 wire would be much better,but the drive roll for my welder for that wire is hard to find.

I got the door skin fitted to the door.This is a easy project to do, just take time to make sure to cut old door skin in the right place.The door skin has to be notched for the lower hinge and I notched the edge at the top on both sides so the flange can tuck under the door sheetmetal.I will add some pics.

I received a email that the door bottom that was on back order was shipped.I should be able to finish this up this weekend.
