The engine is an ls-1. I purchased the fuel tank that goes underneath the bed. My question is what fuel pump for the FI/LS-1.I'm being told that the tank needs a baffle and sump? My tank has neither. What are my options? I know the AERO makes a pump/baffle combo for about $600.00. it requires cutting a hole in the tank to put this in. outside of cutting a whole what else? | | | | Joined: Sep 2012 Posts: 217 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2012 Posts: 217 | Interested in reponse I'm doing the same thing but I thought you could buy the tank ready to go with baffel etc in there?? | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,168 "Hey! That's why the preference is to keep it submerged by way of sump and baffles. But no one says you have to use the in-tank pump. You can also find an external pump that matches the pressure and flow requirements of your motor. It would probably cost you a lot less than $600, too. | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 | I used a GM Fuel pump It worked out great for my 51. Im running GM fuel injection so it only seemed right. It was around $350 for everything ( The pump cost $80.00 at the dealership) And I didnt have to cut a hole in the tank. It was a easy install. Bad 51, my tank is just a little different from yours I don't have the 2 holes in the top just one. the whole in my tank is just 1.75" id.(inside) I can Google the pump to get the dimensions. Do you know what the inside diameter of the wholes in your tank are. And does your tank have baffles? | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 | Yes it's baffled, it's also got a pump well and both of holes are 1.75" The tank I got came with everything.., the fill neck & billet screw on cap, mounting straps, fuel pump sending unit, and all gaskets for around $215 all I had to get was the GM pump. The whole install took about 2 hrs. Some people are like Slinkies, Their not really good for nothing...
