Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Need help finding a thread or link that was posted a while back. the link showed how to identify a 12 volt delco Alt. Had several pictures of diffrent tab locations and lugs. Also gave you infromation on what to ask for at the parts counter, year of vehicle and such. I believe it was posted by red58, but not sure. Could of been squeeze ...here is my 1 wire 12v alt... I didnt purchase the alt in the pic thank you | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | well if it was one or the other it would have been both maybe the page at Mad, which has a list of part numbers and applications toward the bottom Bill | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | that was it
thanks to the both of you | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | Little help looking at my pic above ...pic... and comparing to the MAD link looks like my ALT is a 10SI 63amps 6:00 looks like that's the only ALT on the list with the threaded hole at 6:00 o'clock. I think I'm reading that right? If so the link does not give an application | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | but it says "the 6:00 position would put the two wire harness connector in direct interference with the 'main mounting bolt,' and so it's possible that no passenger cars used SI series with 6:00 positioning." .... so maybe yours was 're-clocked' to suit your application, but it does give the AC-Delco #321-135, which should be listed at the parts houses [or via the Lester #7127-6] ... or you could use any of the other applications with different clocking and re-clock it yourself, they're all the same operationally

Quick search on line I can find it using the Lester, but it shows 3:00 so Looks like I'll be re clocking,
I'll check at oRielly's counter tomorrow | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,636 | On the 10SI as shown in your first photo, the top lug should be threaded, while the bottom lug is thicker with a larger non threaded hole through it.
Looking at your first picture, the alternator is clocked in a 12:00 position putting the regulator connections in line with the top threaded hole.
Having one clocked at the 6:00 position would put the regulator connections next to the thicker non threaded lug. This could cause some problems on making up a connection due to the long bolt that has to go through both the alternator body (lug) as well as the mounting pad or bracket the bolt has to pass through also.
A 3:00 position would put the regulator connection coming out towards the engine block. Not usually a problem unless the alternator is close to the block causing the wires to rub.
I usually install a 10SI with a 9:00 position or the 12:00 like you already have. Yours is a one wire, but the regulator connections are still there.
