For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 338 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 338 | So as I was cutting and buffing my hood I noticed a flaw - it looks like the gun may have spit a high concentration of metal flake about the size of a finger tip. Needless to say I ain't leavin it that way.
What is the best choice scuff and reshoot? or try to spot fix it? I have clearcoat on as well (hence the Cut and Buff)

that is about 30 hours down the tube.
gotta love it! | | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 338 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 338 | Wondering if Magnets could have been the cause. I had the hood covered with a plastic drop cloth after it was all primed (for winter) that was held in place with a couple magnets.
Is it possible that the metal got magnetized just enough to draw a higher concentration of metallic flake in that spot? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | The metal flake is probably aluminum which is a non-ferrous metal. Next to impossible to spot metalic painted panels, as mentioned you're better off shooting the whole panel if you want it to look even. DG
