I have a 53 gmc panel with the original pedal assemblies. Clutch, brake and gas pedal. I would like to put some billet or chrome pedal assemblies in. What would you suggest and how would these work. Everything I have searched and found mounts on the firewall. Or am I just confusing myself? LOL

Any help is appreciated

Is your truck stock or are you modifying the column, drivetrain, etc.?

If it's stock I know of no aftermarket "bling" pedals available.
If you are modifying the truck , however, you have many options.

My panel now has a hanging brake pedal assembly w/ firewall mounted booster/master cylinder. Frees up a lot of room down below. I have no clutch now since it's a T400 auto.
Lastly, I went with a Lokar "thru the floor" gas pedal and linkage.

Squire,
Thanks for the info. the master cylinder is in the stock location right now and the clutch and gas pedal are stock.

I do want to modify it like you are saying with the firewall mounted booster/cylinder.

Squire,
Who would you suggest for the firewall mounted booster/cylinder? I have disc brakes front and rear and running 1 ton axles.Something that wont take up a lot of room under the hood would be nice.

I used the entire kit sold by CPP. First, the under dash pedal bracket assembly
needs to go in. THis means the existing stamped sheet metal column bracket gets cut out.
The new pedal/booster mount assembly goes in with the 4 booster mounting bolts
going thru the firewall. You just tell them you are doing front discs and rear drums and they include the proportioning valve and is pre-mounted on
the booster/master cylinder. No clearance issues; I stuck a 455 Buick in mine
and no issues. I have front discs & My rear end is a 56 Olds. I have great brakes and the pedal assembly is VERY stout. The only clearance issue inside was where the bracket bolts to the bottom of the column area. IN my case my new AutoMeter gauges were just a bit too close to the bracket; so I had to grind a small amount of material to allow for the fasteners on the gauges..... So, if you are going aftermarket gauges
just trial fit before bolting everything in. Like I said, I needed to free up room underneath for exhaust/trans/trans cooler, etc.
Hope this helps.
