I picked up a 1955 First series engine and transmission yesterday and was wondering about the transmission. The shift levers do not clamp on like what I am used to seeing on 54 and earlier transmissions ( three speed colum shift). Also there appears to be a reverse switch for a back up light (?). Does anyone know if this could be a 55 first series transmission or is it definitely something else?

The linkage looks a bit hokie but if it works it works.

My guess is AD trucks never came with Saginaw transmissions.

Oops I almost forgot to ask, will the speedometer read correctly with this Saginaw transmission ?
