1950 3100 with 53' 235.
Have removed radiator. Can I pull harmonic balancer
and replace seal without removing timing cover?
Will use speedy sleeve if needed.
I have read pros and cons. Would be great not to have to drop pan. Oil leak is minimal but I am tired of havong to degrease cross member below.

Hy feierabend, yes you can replace the seal without removing the timing gear cover. There should be two 3/8" coarse bolt holes in the balancer to attach the puller with, and then you just have to get the seal out of the cover, sometimes you can pry it out, I like to drill the metal part of the seal and then screw in a sheet metal screw to pry/pull on, hope that helps.

There is no reason that I know of for removing the front cover to change the seal. After removing the damper pulley, I use a set of side cutters to cut the metal lip and then pry the seal out.
