Moving faster than my 47 I hope. I just got done with my disk brake upgrade and changing my lever shocks to tube type. I have a parts 50 3/4 ton so I just took the 50's shock mounts (lower and upper) and installed them on my 47. The 50 has a diffrent lower axle plate than my 47. It sets at an angle so the bottom of the shock fits. The 47 has a flat lower axle plate for the lever shock rod to fit (no angle). The 50's tubes set at about 60 degrees using my angle finder so that is what I mounted them on the 47. I clamped the mounts in place and drilled three holes and used grade 5 5/16 bolts. The mounts have 4 holes but were only using three on the truck they came on. Not sure what I will use for shocks yet. I have taken a few leaves out of the springs so the front will be a a few inches lower. Gas shocks may be a good idea. But I have no idea as to what ones to get. Not sure if you have salvage yards around you but it my be worth your time to take a look. I do have the front fenders off my 50 so it was easy to get the mounts. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I have used the 1950-54 truck mounts also. They are available in repo.
