The brakes on my 1952 Chevy truck 1/2 ton are solid and working just fine. I just opened up the master cylinder just to check the fluid. What is the correct level? Should the fluid be at the bottom of and touching the fill plug? And what type brake fluid will my truck take. Will it accept the standard dot fluid at Walmart? Thanks HUGH
Just got back from Wally World, they had the Dot 3 standard brake fluid. Just awaiting orders from you good folks on the fill level. Seems to reason that it should be filled to touch the cap as is on the new models. Anyone that could pull his rubber floormat aside and check his fill level for me would be greatly appreciated, was going to take the wife out on a date tonight in that truck, please fellers, Thanks HUGH
I leave about 1/2 inch from the top for expansion. DOT 3 will work fine as long as that's what's been used before. I suspect so. I think DOT 5 is synthetic and you are not supposed to mix the two of them.
