They would attach to the frame. I'm having a tough time finding some parts. | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,058 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,058 | Try Steel Rubber I priced some for my '46 and coughed at the price. I may opt to remove the overloads and replace the shackle hardware etc.. I've been told 1/2 ton overloads were not a factory option or GM accessory anyway. It won't haul loads again either, so....

And they are cheap. | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 18 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 18 | Not sure about not being a factory part. The truck was a barn find and a one owner that actually drove it w/3725 miles. It was parked in the late 40's when the family bought a Nash. Purchased from the family in 95' and stored in another barn after media blasting & being primed. I purchased it last year and rebuilding it from the ground up. I'm finding a few hard to find parts. Thanks for the heads up | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | Theo - just because a one owner low mileage truck has a part on it, doesn't mean it was "factory", could have been 3rd party produced overloads added by the dealer upon sale or afterwards, you'd have to have the word of the purchaser to say otherwise - as a relative noob, you might not know about the documentation available at Keiths .... find the items in the restoration pack from GM or the Master Parts Manual before you decide it's definitely factory OTOH, if you're needing the usual bottoming bumpers, you'll find what you need at Steele Rubber, p/n: 60-0137-32 &/or p/n: 70-2301-32 Bill | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 18 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 18 | Thanks, guys for all the great info. I do have Keith Hardy's pages and the parts list catelogs flagged in my faverites. I have broused through them on many ocassions. Every thing I have read almost always does state that options to these old truck was mainly installed by the dealer at one point or another. I did find the rubber mount @ Steele Rubber. Thanks agian. That one less obscure part to find. Now I'm looking for the inner front reproduction roller wheel bearing & race. So far what I've found are the companies are out of stock & not sure when they will get any in. I'm hoping to find a number on the original to cross reference here locally. | | |
