I am coverting to 12 volts and while checking the tech tips instructions, saw that there is to be a "standard ignition" installed in the gas gauge line. What does this instuction mean? FYI- This is a bone stock resto.

It is a resistor to drop the voltage for the gas gauge.

yes, not really clear, eh?
I think if you follow the ((*)) to the bottom of the page, the "Standard Ignition" means you use an ignition resistor for the dropping resistor in the gas gauge line, as in:
"Part# EL110 Voltage reducer (Light duty for gas gauge)"
might be a brand name, but ask the parts store about a light duty ignition resistor
