I have a new switch, at least I thought it was, in my deluxe heater ('59-3spd). It's been working fine. But I switched it on and suddenly I can't move it back to off. It runs at full speed then I can move it slightly to middle speed and that is it. Don't want to force it, but it was working smooth as silk.
Has anyone encountered this?
Have not pulled it yet to figure it out.
Just looking for clues.

Usually electrical is not the "can't move" kind, it will be mechanical lever/link/rivet/screw/bent/broken bracket something.

Major PITA after just putting it in.
Suddenly before the switch issue, I also had the fuse blow out after shutting down ignition about three times, then this happened. Motor would run fine in all positions, then not run after a shut down. And now the fuse is not blowing. Will be interesting to see what becomes of this when I get to inspect.
I know fuse may or may not be and related, we'll see.

It was internal, mechanical, fairly simple and easy to fix. Might last a long time now or we'll see. If you have never had one apart, there is a spring inside so pay attention lifting the circuit board cover slowly.
In this case a brass slider/shoe rides over the contacts and it had worn itself to the point of hanging up. Weird because it was very sudden and showed no sign of resistance previously. A small file to smooth/bevel out the contacts and edge of shoe and back together it went.
Have not tested the fuse part yet. Needs a long drive for that.
