Hello. I'm new to the site. About a month ago, I retrieved a 1953 Chevy 3100 my dad bought when I was 13 yoa from the shed it had been in for the last 20 years (where I parked it after high school). The body was/is in decent shape but the engine needed work and electrical was basically gone. A month later, the electrical is back and it's running again (with the help of a friend). I'm finding that 1. not a good idea to park a pickup in a shed open to all kinds of animals in Texas, 2. I probably wasn't as involved in the original restore as I thought I was (I was 13 after all). The truck is a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to sharing the process with my son. Also, looking for help from the site.

Thats a nice story Silver53. Just glad its been tucked away all these years instead of sitting in a field and letting the tin worms eat it up.
Lots of info and great folks here who are willing to help. Good luck...we're here when you need us. How old is your son?? He'll remember this the rest of his life.

How about a pic or two when you can.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Silver, time flies by so you better get started. He'll be 16 and you'll wonder where the time went smile
He'll be telling "the story" for many years to come! My youngest daughter is now 30 and she still likes to tell the tales of when she helped as a girl of 12.....plus its something YOU can talk about as well.
Isn't life great!

Truer words were never posted. I missed this opportunity (for want of $$) and I regret this. I could have done little projects over the years, but the biggest cost for me was a dangerously rusted-away floor board ($$$).

Good luck - enjoy yourselves.

I'm in Brownwood. I know, time does fly. I look forward to getting to know other bolters in Texas (or anywhere else) on the site. I know I'm gonna need some advice. So far, it has been like every day I learn so much. Some things I remember from 25 years ago and some things I don't.

Take lots of pictures along the way,

That's one thing I wish I did was take more pics during disassembly
It never failed, during reassembly I was wondering how something went. Sure enough that was the picture I was missing.

Good luck and enjoy
I does go fast
