Anybody know what size wire is used that goes from the coil to the ballast resistor on a 59 3800 with a 283 v8??

Hy panmanhd, according to my 58 maintenance manual, the wire to the ballast resistor from the ignition switch is an 18 gauge brown, the wire to the coil from the ballast resistor is a 20 gauge dark green, hope that helps.

+1 but, if one has installed an aftermarket distribuer/coil, it will require a bump up in wire size due to an increase in current.

Speaking of just how hot does the resistor get while the engine is running? Mine gets mighty Hot, and it was a knew one I put on there.

they do get quite hot, ol'55, just like the dropping resistor on the heater switch, that's why they're mounted on ceramic
