So I'm cleaning up the hood latch release mechanism on my 1950 3800, and I haven't found any paint residue anywhere. Anyone know if the mechanism, or the handle used to release it, is painted and if so what color?

Something so common, but I've never really bothered to look at one.

Thanks - Carmental

Originally, the plating looks like zinc. Zinc plating can be done easily at home and is less toxic.
