I'm still trying to get my fuel gauge to work. I might replace the sending unit. Chevy Duty lists two units for the 72 truck. One for the six cylinder and for the V8 with standard tranny. It also lists another one for the V8 with auto. tranny. My truck used to be four speed and now is auto. Which one do I get? Decisions, decisions.
I suggest you investigate this further as other suppliers, such as Jim Carters, show only one sending unit for the 72 model year. I can think of any reason why the sending unit is dependent on the engine as the tank for that year is the same for all applications. Chevy duty is not always correct in their applications. Good luck
The v8 probably has a larger fuel line. Some models have an extra tube for a vent. I,d use the application that came originaly with the truck. Chevy duty praciically always has the right stuff.
