I have not heard anything back from them. My neighbor seen a group of teens playing around someones house but police could not do anything on that. Both neighbors cars have been taken care of through insurance. Me well I am learning the hard way

I ordered some Dorman bumper bolts from Summit Racing.

I installed 3/4 of the rear brackets to install the rear bumper and apron. I need a 1/4-20 tap to fix a couple of holes.

A package was at my doorstep when I got home from work.
Some parts for assembly of the '59 came in:
Glove Box Liner, Firewall Grommet Set, Glove Box Bumpers and a new Heater Decal.
It's like Christmas as a kid!

Big bad 454 is mocked up, new crossmember mount is cut to length, welded at the ends and bolted to the frame. Looks great too. Ordered same style tranny mount, found a cool finned aluminum oil pan and working on the steering box relocation.

Sandblasted the front apron. Gonna go out in the cold and dark and paint it. Brought home the tap for the holes to mount the rear apron bracket. Thinking of looking at the running boards.

I really should get to wiring, too!

Installed the rear apron and rear bumper. Time to rest my eyes.

Painted the front apron.

Located and purchased,orginal seat adjusters, frame, cushions. No aprons. I guess the hunt is on for aprons. I got the adjuster installed. The frame will be sanded and painted another day.

Got rid of a headache today...and thanks to Wrenchbender ret. for helping me figure it out.

I put the door panel on my right door but then realized the left door only had holes where the screws go. Well, I didn't know what was up and sent George an SOS for help. Seems I have a left door off a 54 or 55.1 which uses nut-serts or Rivit-nuts to secure the cardboard panel.
Well, I found the rivit nuts but didn't have the tool to do a good job...so for months it has bugged me.
THEN, a friend who works in a restoration shop (mopars) came by the house to pick up a heat unit for his shop.... and low and behold, he has the kit to do it. Today he came by and in 20 minutes he had the rivit nuts in place and ready to go.

So, there IS a difference in some doors!! How do I know?......
There is a difference in the screws that hold he bottom inspection cover on to. YOU guys may know this but for me I feel like a light has been turned on!!!

I bought a rivit-nut kit a few years ago and was surprised to find that I seem to find quite a few times I need to use it.

I've been working on the 39's bed for the past 2 weeks.

The bed wood was bad, so i pulled it out. I then found out why the bed sides were so warped. A PO had welded in the supports, and they are not the right length nor are they at the right height, so the bed is not level.

I welded in a few holes, patched a couple of bad spots and pounded out a few dents. Rust was removed from the lower part and treated with a rust preventive coating.

I replaced the wood on the front panel too.

Drove it into town in the rain and filled it up with gas and drove around for awhile and got a thumbs up at the gas station. hadn't filled it up for 3 months thought it about time.

Installed the front bumper and apron. Tied it down, took it to work and steam cleaned the trailer it sits on and its rims. Found a way to properly place the front tie downs. Took a couple of pictures of it in the sun.

Almost burned it up! I had a hole in the door jamb and decided to weld it up. I was careful to place some cardboard in the door way to block any sparks from hitting the seat. Just as I was about finished I noticed an orange glow coming through the corner glass. I'd burned a small hole through the metal just large enough for a spark to set fire to the corner of the cab. Got the fire out but I'm going to have to redo the rear cab lining.

I cleaned, reworked and painted the heater defroster unit in the '59. I had to use the fan motor from the '58 parts truck... the other was burned up. I also applied a new decal for the flapper lever on the housing front. The unit looks and works like new!
I also scrubbed out the cab floor and sanded all the surface rust from inside the dash and sprayed primer on all of it...
I'm THIS close to final paint and assembly to the interior!

For the past few weeks (months) as I have had time I have been in the process of installing a pair of remote battery terminals. I have fin ally decided on locating them on the driver's side inner fender, about 8" down from the top. That location requires a extra long cable and at least two points between the starter (where I will connect the positive cable) and the left side fender. I had hoped to use the flexplate dust cover mounting screws to hold the cable as it runs from the starter over. The present impediment has been the screws that hold the dust cover to the bellhousing. So far I haven't bought the dust cover and don't have the screws to fit it. The 1/4 20 and 28 won't fit so they are probably metric. The m/m 6 and 7 won't fit. Any ideas what would fit? The engine is a 350 crate equal to a 93-97 Camaro.

If I remember corectly they are #12 course - but they may be fine thread.

Got my new mounting frame and slide tracks for my buckets assembled. I also got my confirm. my radiator should be here thurs.

Could you shoot some pics of that EC? I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to mount my buckets in the 52 and could use all the ideas/help I can get!

I checked with the Chevy dealer who informed me that the bolt was:M 6.3 X 1.81 x 20. Now I know the 20 is the bolt length and the 1.81 is the (strange) thread pitch and I know a M6 but I'm not familiar with 6.3.

Installed front license plate holder. Stared at it some more. Thinking of fabbing a battery mount for the firewall. I'm just not a fan of the under floor battery spot.

Doors on the '59 were striped to bare metal, rust proofed, primed and painted. Can't wait to hang them and start re-assembling them.

I removed my VIN plate, and was able to remove 7 layers of paint to reveal the original text, and Serial Number. You can view how I did it here -->

Jim, Why not re-drill and tap then back to SAE?

That would be a last resort, however the dealer parts guy called me that he had found the bolts. I went by and picked up the 3 bolts and the dust cover I had ordered. He probably wouldn't have "found" the bolts if I hadn't bought the cover. Call me a skeptic. LOL

While waiting for the cable guy to finally show up, we hung both doors on the '59 and aligned them.......

Radiator cam in today. I will do my test fit tomorrow then most all fitting up is done I can take it apart and do final assembly.

I heard through the grapevine that you are supposed to wait 18 minutes after welding to make sure that a fire isn't smoldering!

I had rotten oil soaked plywood in the bed of my 39, I managed to get it smoking too!

I've gotten the underside of the bed primed and one coat of paint applied. One more coat and I'll turn it back over and remount it to the frame.

This weekend, restored a Fram remote mount filter unit and "adjusted" the shifter interlock to lessen a bind going into and out of first gear.

Next up is gage refacing and gas gage replacing!

Applied rust prevention treatment to the undersides of the bed side rolls.

Hemmed and Hawwed over whether or not to change the rear end and springs for an hour or so.

Then spent a couple of hours smoothing the right front fender.

Another 1/2 hour cleaning up and putting everything back into the shop.

I painted the cab interior and have 90% of the dash assembled.
It's been a good, yet strange feeling to throw away the emptied labeled baggies that once contained parts.
When I'm finished with the dash, I'll take care of the floor.
I've been sick with the crud but I'll try to post a pic soon.

Worked on my truck yesterday! Work is definitely picking up. Moved it from garage to shop at my friends and I should be able to work on it once a week for 4 hours or so now...

Cab is almost ready to pull... Only thing left is the temperature sending unit. it's stuck in the head so I’m soaking it with PB Blaster. Any tips?

Still playing with installing my new (used) wiring harness. Ran into some confussion that I'm trying to straighten out. Got my Photobucket pics of items to do with truck updated. Now back to figuring out where that green wire goes!!!
