(History) A few days ago I was running truck and and testing lights. I noticed a headlight burning low. Shut er down as it was to cold that evening. On weekend took er for a run about 5 miles. Today I have no lights,pk lights or brake lights. Put new switch in when I changed wire harness 6 months ago. Got any suggestions | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | a faulty switch isn't likely to be caused by generator problems, but the new repro switches aren't always the best quality - I'd pull it out and check the functions with an ohm meter, particularly the thermal contacts on the switch, and make sure the main power connection isn't loose

I had a new one go flaky on me also. Seems like the reproductions can sometimes be suspect.

Checked wire diag found that bat term on switch wire runs to c term at ammeter gage and that was unconnected. Hooked up all wires properly and everything is working again. Loose ground caused one headlight to operate dim after tightening its bright again. Thanks for your help | | |
