I know this is beating a dead horse but here I go again. I'm in the painting stage of my 54' 3/4 ton Chevy and the truck is a deluxe model. This truck has been in my family since 54' except for a hand full of years in the late sixty's and early 70's. The exterior color is juniper green. Now here is the fun part. I have striped this thing down to bare steel inside and out, and the only colors on the inside I can find are green. I know most of the deluxe models were a gray of some sort, but mine is green. So I have picked out a color that is close to a match as possible and it is surf green. Now I know this is a correct color for that year my question is this, has anyone ever seen this color on the inside of a deluxe cab? I think the two colors look great next to each other I was just wondering if anyone had any other thoughts.

There was a two-tone interior option in 1954/55 for a light green and a dark green combination.

Thanks. Trying to keep it as original as possible. I'm sure the judges at some of the shows I will be going to don't have a clue anyway. smile

Here is a shot of a deluxe green interior one of the members sent me. There are two colors of green and they are a low to medium gloss. Jim Carter sells the interior paint and I am pretty sure he is the only source for the correct seat cover.

I am not sure if the interior two-tone green colors matched the available exterior colors; but, in 1954, the two green exterior colors were Juniper Green and Ocean Green.

Thanks for the info. I looked at some paint samples from 54' and the surf green was pretty much a perfect match for the interior color that was already in the cab. You could tell that it was the original color as you were taking off the paint. I know for a fact that the Juniper Green is the correct exterior color just buy running the vin #. I have a bunch of the little parts shot and the two colors look fantastic together. The cab should be shot this weekend, starting to get very exciting!!! smile

You cannot tell the original color of a 54 by the VIN. They did not call out the details back then that they do now. Now if you removed the VIN plate and saw the color under it, that is a different story.

What is your "vin "?

Sorry must have been thinking of my other truck. The truck has been in my family for almost its whole life. That's how I know the color is correct.

No problem. I think we all thought we were on the verge of learning something. Jim Carter has the two tone interior paints. They actually seem to have more of the deluxe cab stuff than anyone.

Surf Green was an automobile paint color from 1953-1955. It looks like it was used on both the interior and exterior of cars during those years.

I doubt if anyone (including a judge, if that matters) really knows the shade of green difference between the truck Ocean Green and the car Surf Green.
