For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,154 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,154 | The clutch needs to be adjusted as there is some chatter when sneaking it out and the pedal play is more than an a few inches. As I seem to remember you loosen the back nut (towards the engine) and then tighten the front nut (towards the engine) until you have about an inch of free play with the pedal. It would seem easier to have a person (the wife) in the cab pushing on the clutch pedal while adjusting. I know use the manual but the manual doesn't give you all the neat tricks you guys have learned in a lifetime..please share and thanks. steve
Well, I guess this was a DA question not a single reply...We did look through many manuals and the instructions are written up in different verbiage . The later manuals 56-58 were re-written to include more detailed information as to the movement of the two adjusting and locking nuts....hope this info helps others....we thank you for your time. SJB
