I have no heat in my 58 apache. Both hoses are hot and the thermostat is operating , and the fan blows like a hurricane but air is not cold but cool. I have back flushed the heater with a garden hose and there was a clear full stream of water. I'm lost and it's cold here in Ga. Any ideas?

yes, the factory hooked them up a particular way and specifies that in the accessory installation manual

If it has a "heat valve", check the cable going to it to see if its pulling open enough - IF your system has that. (I don't know much about 58s). Some vehicles do, some don't. If so, maybe it isn't opening all the way, but just enough to let water from the garden hose through.
If there isn't much hot water going through the heater core, the air blasting through won't pick up much heat so it'll seem cold.

Happened to me once, but on a non-GM. Hope this helps.

I will try swaping the hoses . All of the cabels and levers are working smooth and operating the levers and flap doors. I drove about 50 miles Saturday to pick up a load of tile but it was around 48 degrees. .I have a forty mile drive Monday to start a demolition and it is going to be around 32 degrees . I will need that heat in the worst way

if you have the deluxe version heater, the hose connection toward the outside on the firewall should go to the water pump fitting

A good part of the heater core could be stopped up with crud and still let just enough water through to make both hoses hot.

If the hoses are correctly hooked up, might try to back flush the heater core and see you get some junk out of it.

Had to do that to my heater core a while back. Puts out pretty good heat now.

I know it sounds funny, but burp it, i had a truck once and it had air in it, due to maybe a slight leak in head gasket exhaust side, and every now and then it would get air and blow cold, , stop and open the rad cap and it was hot again, , i know sounds funny

what is your engine temperature running at? engine thermostat stuck open.

In my experience, when any vehicle looses heat you would do a radiator pressure test at operating temperture. This will tell you if the head gasket is leaking combustion pressure into the readiator. The (air) combustion gases in the heater cause no heat transfer.
