What's the timeline? Is there such a thing as a 6 volt am/fm radio?

VW had 6v and 6v/12v-selectable radios with AM, AM/FM (and some with Marine Band, ShortWave, or LongWave - at least 5 combinations of bands). The Beetles had the cheapeast radios (Sapphire ?), while the Type III models (Squareback Fastback Notchback) and maybe Ghias often had better radios.

Here is one on eBay (although the listing information is weak): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6763&item=7905901577

I assume that you want a radio to run from 6V??? I'd recommend a DC to DC convertor which converts your 6V to 12V.

Tim, I came upon that auction while looking thru ebay. Interesting thing, that 'switchable' voltage.
Jason, I think that's what I'll be using. I'll probably hide aradio under the seat...

The 6-12V switchable radios from the type 3 V-dubs were made by Blaupunkt......I have an AM only model in storage from a '66 VW squareback.
