Forgive me for asking such a basic question. I have used the search feature and it's as helpful as an english dictionary in Russia. By the way, why not make the search feature search for "Phrases" rather than just single "Keywords"? Its so frustrating.

Anyway, back to my question. My 1959 235 is all stock and it had Champion 44's in it, and from what I understand they were a commercial plug? Correct me if I'm wrong here. I need a good set of replacments. What are you guys using? Thanks!

Skidmarks -

I use standard tip ACDelco R44 plugs in my '54 235 based on a search of suggestions on Stovebolt. I could probably use hotter R45 plugs for my driving and engine condition, but they work.

You CAN search Stovebolt for phrases. I use the "Search" button on the gray boarder directly above the post window. Other 'Bolters use the "Search" button at the top right corner of the page.
> Put quotation marks around the phrase.
> If you search for multiple words or multiple phrases, put a plus sign in front of each.
> Space between the previous word or phrase and the plus sign.
> No space after the plus sign.

Here are some sample spark plug searches:
"spark plugs" (over 1000 results)
+"spark plug" +235 (287 results)
"what spark plugs" (7 results)
+"spark plug" +"ac44" (6 results)

Are you sure those plugs aren't "Commercial 44" plugs. AC delco had Commercial plugs that had a larger electrode, and no resistor. The commercial plugs were used in vehicles that did not have a radio. The resistor plugs were used to supress radio interferience in vehicles that did have radios.

Today The commercial plugs are of very limited availability. Even if your vehicle doesn't have a radio, you likely do in your cell phone. Of course you should never be on the phone while driving without some sort of handsfree device.

If you can get the commercial plugs, get them! Why? You could always teach the prius driving i phone user a lesson when you drive next to them! grin

I use Autolite 295 in my truck, they are a little hotter than an Autolite 303. I find the 295 works best in my engine (less frequent cleanings-every 4000 miles), but your mileage may vary.

Use R44S or R45S AC plugs. The extended tip performs much better then the old style plugs.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
