fresh rebuild on a 1962 261 with remote filer added 6 quarts. then spun the oil pump with my drill and the guage on my run stand said 50 psi. Now while i was doing this the oil for the valve train was only dripping. I figured at 50 psi it would be hitting me in the face like a more modern engine. Is this normal or should the oil have been squirting out much faster. thanks.

With cold oil there should only be a slow drip.
When the oil is hot there will be more.

Pre'68 Dave got it right. The viscosity is also temperature related and being sluggish while cold is normal. Heat the oil up to 150 degrees and try it again. I'll bet it flows more vigorously.
