Yesterday started with a special assignment. Since the schedule permitted, and the weather was perfect, I hopped in the GreenMachine and headed to our President's house to assist in the final stages of his marathon transmission replacement project and provide escort for multiple shakedown runs.

Cosmo will do a full writeup on his fine craftsmanship so I will save those details for him. I arrive at my morning destination to find Mr. President already in his coveralls and greased from head to toe. He stops to welcome me to the Presidential Shop and begins to debrief me on the lastest stages of progress.

We then begin to review wiring diagrams and talk through the steps we were going to do. Then suddenly The President looks at me and just says,

"I have a cool place for us to go this afternoon"

He quickly cleans up, and we hop in the GreenMachine. He says we are going to take a ride down scenic Rt 151 and grab some lunch.

Our first stop, was the Bluemountain Brewery where we were given a menu of their crafts.

Then after lunch we head to "a place to have a good beer". That place, The Devil's Backbone is amazing. As the SAA of the great ODSS, I proclaim that at some point in time, we will raise glasses in brotherhood there because words can not do this place justice. You just have to see it yourself.

As luck would have it, both of us were donning our greatest of apparel, the great ODSS jacket. Here is a pic of John's great work.

After a great brew, we took the opportunity of the view from the parking lot...

Then our final stop, The Blue Toad where we each had a wonderful brew called "The Dirty Bastard" while listening to Cosmo's great cross country cycle ride, and it was great!!

Then back to the Presidents house where I drop him off and I head home. By then time I got home and had dinner, Cosmo had the transmission wiring complete.

Great day, I think we may need to have a Brew Cruise at some point......

A Stovebolt brother, a fine '51 AD pickup, Old Dominion Stovebolt Society jackets, a beautiful day on a scenic road dotted with 3 breweries, several wineries, and at least one hard cider distillery, it only gets better if there were more ODSS brothers.

Now that you gentlemens have conducted the recon on the route and threat patterns, I 2nd the motion to conduct a full assault. I recommend NAPCO's suburban so we can seat 8. (RATS - I am reminded NAPCO has gone native with single bench seat options).

I have a chicken coop on the back of the '66 that seats 8 or 9. No seat belts back there, but I can bring some baling twine and duct tape. Sounds like a plan!

Gents. We need to get a early March 151 run going. The demands of the book club have been astounding and I have started to forget what a vintage vehicle looks like in person. Smell that old stovebolt six running? I can't. Sweet is poised and ready, as long as the salt is off of the roads. Cosmo? Marlow, should only take you 2 days to get there with your 46 hammered down. John, fire up ol Charlie and fill the tank. Saturday or a Sunday is ideal. The Brew pub opens at 11:30am and the main brewery opens at 1pm, per the website. Who is in?

Just had a thought Grigg and George can ride out together, you know, to save gas to help keep the air clean!

I will have a beer with you fellas. No driving though. Still laid up waiting on paint. You will have to smell the premium in my VW.

IF you are burning premium in a VW you are wasting good beer money, check your owners manual, although you are correct...the premium fuel would be a noticible smell of unburned fuel coming out the tailpipe.
