| | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 36 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 36 | hello everyone i am goin to flush my cooling system and i was just wondering if its safe to use finish liquid dish detergent or tide laundry detergent(powder) to flush my system and how much should i put in? i have a 51 chevy 3100 with a 216.

cause problems. You won’t find dirt or greasy grime in the cooling system unless
you had a head gasket leaking or have been running around without a cap on you
radiator..
The commercial cooling system flush that you can pick up at your FLAPS or farm
supply contains chemicals that dissolve the rust and mineral deposits that
accumulate in the cooling system. They are quite inexpensive and cornsidering
that you only need to flush the system every few years you’ll probably spend
more for lunch than you will for the flush. Also inexpensive is to refill it with
distilled water and antifreeze to minimize the mineral build up in the future.
