Its fairly large, about 3/4" or so. WHAT GOES HERE?! i've been looking at pictures at it seems like its a sensor of some sort. I can't find anything in my manual, nothing online, and i cant remember wtf i took out of there! I probably left it in and the machine shop took it out. please let me know what it is.

The hole between head bolts 7 and 13 is where the temperature sensor goes. I am guessing this is what you are referring to. It is just outside of the valve cover. 235 head Kurt | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9 |

If it is the typical gas operated gauge, (not electric) it can't be detached from the tube which is also part of the gauge. If the sensor has been detached/broken the whole thing is toast and you will need a new gauge.

The machine shop must have pulled the sensor out of the head. | | | | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 55 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 55 | it looks to me that if i just got a new sensor in the head, the wire would plug right back on the sensor without a problem. or am i missing something? | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 | Starting in 1956 Chevrolet went to electric temp gauges. Just buy a sender/sensor and hook up the wire.
