Was planning on having the plate balanced to the rest of the assembly and the Napa guy said it was not necacary. The one I just pulled was originally balanced, so what do I do? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Go ahead and install the new assembly, as is.
If the mating surface on you flywheel looks cracked/scored/glazed, have it machined (they might also balance it).
Use the matching throwout/release bearing and a new pilot bushing.

If the TO brg. did not come with it make sure it matches the pressure plate style. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Then get a piece of dowel, round stock, bolt , etc. just slightly smaller diameter than the i.d. of the pilot bearing & push it into bearing then cover with a rag. Now take a hammer & give the round stock a good solid whack & it's out. Terry
