ive picked up a bit of a strange engine today?
Numbers;-
Head – 3835913 is it a 235?
Block 3837012 is it a 261?
Serial number by distributor F311k or maybe F3IIK…is it a 1957 engine built in flint? 3rd November? And a 34-35-3700? What ever that is!?
No history on engine at all? But hoping it’s a 261..it has the 261 captains bars on both sides and thinking it may have had a 235 head fitted?
im trying to work out what it is and what year it is to help rebuild, it also has no oil filter just pipework coming out the side? would a standard bypass oil filter from a 235 fit it?

Im looking for details so I can order parts, there is no oil filter? Would a standard 235 bi pass filter fit?

The head should have had some additional coolant holes drilled into them so that the head would be compatible with the 261. The proper head would be 3836848 also referred to as the "848" high compression head used until the end of the 235/261 engine. Here's a good resource for finding out what your casting number means | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 74 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 74 | thankyou GMONIZ, and also for making my post readable!
