I'm trying to find out what engine I have in my 1939 chevy pickup the num on the block is 838941 the head is 838773 it's a 6cyl but not sure where to find what size it is to order parts if anyone knows I would much appreciate

Hy Weld a lot, the block casting number is correct for a 1939 Chevrolet 216, according to the Inliners International website, hope that helps.

Ya that's great thanks but I also need to find what kind of head that is because the gasket doesn't Match any that the web sites are selling its flat in the ds and the pass side has five cut outs for the head bolts

Hy Weld a lot, according to Fel-Pros catalog their head gasket p/n is 7276B and is used on 216s from 1937 to 1953, hope that helps.
