I was on a web site looking at the rod and main bearing specs for the 50-55 216 and 235. The crankshaft rod and main bearing specs are the same for those six years. I know that around 53-54 the 235 went to a pressurized oiling system. Can you use 53-55 235 bearings since the crank specs are the same as a 216?

No, the conversion bearings for the splash-oil engines are totally different than the 54-61 rod bearings. They still use the dippers for lubrication, so there's a hole in the lower bearing to align with the dipper hole in the rod cap. There's also an elliptical slot that connects both bearings to allow the oil picked up by the dipper to find its way to the upper bearing shell. The 54-61 bearings get oil from the main bearings through a drilled passageway in the crankshaft. The 216 crank is solid- - - -no oil passages.

One other thing that keeps you from using full pressure rods is the width, they are much narrower.
