This is on my 66 C-10, I am using the key out of my Chevy II to turn the cylinder but I can't get it out. I have done it in the past with a new switch & tumbler off the shelf but that was with new parts. I have a new cylinger & it has 2 holes in the face of it which is really interesting...any help out there? | | |

Also my key won't stay in, it pulls out in any position so when I try to pull it out the key comes right out. Should I take the key out & try to hooK it with something or does it need to be in the cylinder?

Turn it a little farther & pull it out. You can use a hook tool or snap ring plyers. Put the new one in the same position & use the corresponding hole.

Ypu've got to hold your mouth just right (kinda like fishing). Put the switch assembly in a vise. turn the key, insert a paper clip in the hold and you'll feel the spring retainer depress, use a very small screwdriver to pry the switch from the housing. Goes together easier.
