I would like to know what this is for so I can list it .
Here are the numbers:

Does not include the flywheel, adapter plate or head. I assume this is a 235?
This will help me getting to the right folks on the board..

Why might you think/ask about it being a GMC block?

He thought it was out of a GMC truck. How he determine that was - well maybe questionable - especially in light of some of Bubba's retrofit work that was done to get it into the frame.
Very helpful to know this block is from so I can get it to the right folks in case someone is looking for one as much as I want to have it hauled away!

I have heard the 261 (truck engine) is a good block to use in a 6 cylinder 'vette.
Does it still have the 3 carb setup?

I was able to find a nice truck block in Pa. Geez the Corvette heads are real pricy so using a standard 235 head. I do have the tri carb set up that came with the car. This is going to be a DRIVER not a trailer queen. Love the 6's and why I gravitate to the Stovebolt site. You folks are so helpful in fine tuning these old engines....get everything running right one can just throw any fiberglas boat hull on the frame and have a great time on the road!! This was listed as the replacement head for the Corvette six after production ended on the Corvette 6 engine. Fairly common and relatively high compression.

They are also about 3" longer than 235/261 engines.
'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Regarding the head I was fortunate enough to have a good 848 that came with the new block I found and during the coruse of the rebuilt there were no problems found.

That block had a mechanical cam, in both cars & trucks, and both with head 3701887. They tried 3 differents crankshafts in that block until they came out with the later 53 blocks. I don't think trucks had a later 53 block, just cars.. From then on, all 235 & 261 blocks had the same crankshaft 3701488.
