so dickson and my self pulled my 235 today and set it in the back mounts.. we noticed has has a two piece t.t with a carrier mount so its two seperate u joints and about 10 inches longer.
he got the truck with
no engine,
small block motor mounts in the box'o' parts, a 3 speed with t.t.
a 4 speed with t.t.,
a rear with the main t.t. thats in the car not going to a trans, just floating,
another rear with the t.t. unbolted from it
and one 10 inch long or so t.t. with a carrier mount
any ideas where the previous cat was going/did?
can we tell if the rear end that on there is good just by slipping the wheels with it jacked, or does the ring gear need torque to actually tell if its good or not?
can/will we need a okie in the smaller 10'section?
I have a 56 rear we could use, and a sm318 (56ish 3 speed) is complet hub to hub and has 3.9s ... I suggested we COULD do a open drive line, but, I dont think he plans to keep the just get her going and looking good, then onto a new project.(lucky guy)
so what would be easier, reassembling the t.t we already have , or putting in the 56 rear we have?
i think if we went with the open rear its gonna cost either another 200 or so for a colum shift for the sm318 and a drive shaft,
or 200 for a sm420(4 speed 56ish) and drive shaft
adding another 200ish to the total cost of the build..
so whats a open drive line worth to the selling value??
