We've got a 12" adjustable crescent wrench (made in China). The screw that holds in the spiral adjuster somehow fell out. Would anyone know where I could get another screw? It seems a shame to throw the wrench away when all it needs is a 5 cent screw. It seems to be a 1/4" machine screw about 2" long but the thread isn't 20tpi.

Thanks.

It's probably metric. 6mm? The hardware store probably has fine or coarse pitch.

if it gets down to it you can always drill it out and tap to a common machine screw. better than tossing it or driving into town for a metric cap screw.

Find a bolt with the right threads at the hardware store if you do not have one in your "junk pile" and then cut it off to length...then cut/grind a cross section in it to use a slotted screwdriver. Worked for me.

i have rebuilt several exactly how Achipmunk said. when my dad throws out a old crescent wrench, i snatch it up and rebuild it. now i have quite a collection of "refurbished" wrenches, and some work better than new ones grin
