If it's been there awhile, you're SOL!

HVLP doen't mean no overspray, just less.

Most paints can be safely removed from plastic by soaking in a lye based degreaser, such as Superclean or Purple Power. If it's laquer, soak it in 91% rubbig alcohol. If it's etched any, you might be able to bring it back by sanding it out using a polishing kit from the local hobby shop, which goes from 1200-12000 grit, then polishing with a good plastic polish.

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Can you remove the part from the gauges? If so, then a Superclean soak should do it. Use it straight from the jug, don't cut it. A bit of warning, if the part has any vacuum metalized "chrome" on it, Superclean will remove it. It will also damage/dissolve any aluminum or die-cast parts. I've removed fully fured Krylon, as well as several other brands of spray paint (some even had primer under them) using Superclean. Most of the parts were opaque plastic, but some were clear, never had a problem with the transparency being comprimised.
