Two questions on a "59" Apache.
1) Were turn signals an option for that year?
2) My manuals wiring diagram does not show any turn signal info, but I know that there are parts available (stock). Does anyone have a wiring print that shows the original wiring and or a breakdown of the steering column components?

I dont think turn signals were optional in '59. The factory manual shows wiring diagram for trun signals, but it is hard to read. If you cant read the diagram posted by Bullfoot, send me a Fax # and I will fax you a diagram I got from a vendor when I purchased a new t.s. switch.
It is not much better, but you can make out wire colors.

Did you have a specific question about the T.S?

msteuer - factory turn sigs were an xtra cost option in the task force. the wiring diagram came with the unit. pretty straight forward. the large plastic wiring connector for it should be under the dash by the steering column, and the unit just slides on the column under the wheel with the wiring going down the column w/ the horn wire.

I could send ya some pics if ya want. could probably send ya a whole unit, but Joy might get excited!

if you can find the "cup" w/ the basic insides, the switch is available as reproduction.
here\'s a pic of the works . the scarce part is the plastic cover for the switch side of the wiring - has to be off to get the wires thru the column, so it's usually lost!

need more?

Bill

According to my original '59 Chevy Truck Data Book, directionals were an option in '59 and they were redesigned from the '58 trucks to meet certain state requirements. These are available as a truck accessory from the factory and not as a "regular production option". The distinction is that accessories were dealer installed where RPOs were factory installed generally speaking.
