| | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 36 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 36 | hello all i have started to remove the front timin cover on my 1951 chevy 3100 1/2 ton inline 6 216, and i have removed the balancer and got ready to remove the front cover and i see that there is 2 bolts on the bottom now i have done some checkin online and have read that those 2 bolts at the bottom, to remove them i have to remove the oil pan and remove them from the inside. Just wanted to make sure this is right before i remove the oil pan.

The bolts could then go through from the front to give access without dropping the pan. Since most of our old rigs don't get driven enough to require frequent rod and main bearing adjustments, the swap to all the bolts coming in from the front is a logical choice.
