Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 29 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 29 | I want to clean up/replace/rebuild the vacuum advance unit on my '40 truck engine. Would someone please walk me through the removal of the vacuum advance unit? Do I need to remove the distributor to remove the vacuum advance unit? What about the adjustment unit mounted under the grease cap and between the vacuum advance diaphragm and the distributor? Can it be removed and cleaned up without distroying the timing? If I have to remove the distributor, how do I do this? How do I keep the timing relatively close to what it is as the motor runs.
Thanks to all.

The vacuum advance is then ready to remove. Replace in reverse order. No muss no fuss no changing any setting.

Have the new unit with you before trying to remove the old one. It'll be a guide as to how it's connected for a first time project.
