Okay I spent part of the day tearing apart my new 50s Chevy so I can throw away the junk parts and clean my yard out,

I'm planning on putting the body on my s-10. I stopped before touching the cab but looked and only seen 2 bolts at the floorboard that hold the cab to the frame, I know this can't be right but I couldn't see any more bolts, the cab is full of dirt and mossy junk, I poked around and still didn't find any more, were are they located?

If you look under the cab you'll see a bracket at each rear corner that have a bolt through a rubber mount at the frame. Those brackets will have to come off to remove the cab.

I think you access the bolts from behind the rear seat. Should be two bolts side by side in each corner that go through the cab floor to the brackets.

By the looks of your firewall you may have a 49 there. Its possible you might have one rear center cab mount

okay thank you guys I'll have to go out and take a look, I'm not sure of the year it was something my neibuer gave me to use for parts if I could or toss if not I haven't done any research on this time period trucks.

I think it is prudent to point out the following. If you have the shackle system, removing the bolts from one side will allow the cab to settle onto the frame without warning. It is just something to be aware of so taht you don't get your fingers caught.

Very good point! A 2x4 held by jack stands under the cab works well.

Yea the pic came out pretty good, unfotinatly when you step back theres a pile of 235 engine parts my 46chevy, 3 270Gmc engines the s10 I want to switch the body with, my canoe, my little raft, my freinds boat, a 20,000lb winch and anouther large pallet of random parts.

all of wich need to be moved to my part area and out of my future driveway

well I came up with a good mathmatical equation for easily removing the bolts holding the cab to the frame:

A cool little lecture/story on removing your cab. It would be a candidate for IRWIPI, except it will run again in another life.

Well I'm not sure of the sound it made as it fell over (my 42 has no muffler so it was pretty loud) but after that it did make a lot of grinding, squeaking sounds as I tore the bolts apart, along with the occasional battle cry followed with the sound of a sledgehammer bouncing of 60 plus year old steel and victory howls as the frame fell off the cab

well hopefully within a couple years I'll have a good hold on my projects and I'll have the body snugly fitted onto my s-10, it was a shame that the rest of the truck was in so bad of condition (one spring was about half the size of the rest due to corrosion, the bed was cut up and beat pretty hard, I was going to save some of the little parts and resell them, but upon dusting them off most of them disintegrated into a rust pile.
