Not only that Jim,but there's nothing worse than a 21st century hi-fi in a 60+ year old dashboard.....

Also when people cut holes on doors for speakers it always looks like they've used a bloomin' chainsaw!

Just came back from picking up my '55 235 and powerglide trans. Dont need the trans but seller would not sell separately. On the way to pick engine up, I stopped at salvage yard and scored a seat for $100. 2000 Durango 2nd row seat measures 52" so it fits perfectly. Black leather with fold down middle section and it pivots forward so I will be able to store stuff under seat. Another productive day.

Uploaded pics of 235 and Durango seat. Durango seats from 98-03 should be same width.

I thought my width was 52" as well and bought set of 2nd row Cadillac SUV seats that turned out about 1.5 too wide to shut the doors. I hope you have better luck.

How did you mount it? I'm considering the roll pan over the back bumper already, but I'm not sure how it mounts. I love that look!

Fitted the new gas tank, just need to fit the sender unit and re-assemble my speaker box/shelf arrangement.

Now I will be able to drive it without the danger of the plastic fuel can on the floor with the fuel line stuck in it!

Next plan is to temporary cover the bed floor area (probably plywood),throw a blanket on the seat, tune it,get the front alignment done, sort the windshield wipers and finally register it.
Wish me luck!

I simply drove the old girl to the gas station, topped her off with some fuel and aired up all the tires. I hope to finish up the metal work on the hood this week and hope to have it dipped and e-coated.

Hey seabee, that's a beaut' of a truck. thumbs_up

We got some more parts cut out, assessed the remaining rust, took a break to receive a coal delivery, took the grinder to the extremely stubborn cab mount bolt, AND got the rear cab floor cut and fitted.

A productive day. grin Too bad my vacation I took to work on the truck ends this tuesday. frown ohwell

Jockbolter,
I love your 50 3100. It is exactly the direction we want to go with our 51 3100. It's nice to see what it will look like. You do very nice work, can tell lots of time and thought went into every aspect of your resto-mod. Well thought out and great finish product. Keep up the great work. Wish we were closer to see it in person. Brian

Thanks for the kind words Brian.
It's certainly been a steep learning curve for me,but thanks to the gang here and words of encouragement from the likes of yourself it's getting there.

It's so close to being legally 'on the road' now I can hardly wait!

The gas tank install continued,I got down and dirty doing the underside work, fitting the brass outlet, plumbing the fuel line and ran out of hose clamps! aaargh!

I also secured the trans cooler lines properly,a small job I'd also overlooked! blush

Mind you before it goes for final inspection i'll be going over every nut, bolt and fitting,which.... judging by the above comment might be a good idea!

This post kind of makes a mockery of Brain Ostners post and I quote "Lots of time and thought went into every aspect"

Plenty of time, just not a lot of thought today....! not me

Installed my power booster, and master. found a rear brake line that works, i used a die grinder on 2 existing frame holes so the front hoses fit through the frame, made new hard lines, bled and tested. installed fuel tank for the final time I hope.

Got the modern coil inside the case of the original so it now kind of looks like it still has the original ignition switch and coil,I still need to do something to the wiring to make it look more correct but will do that after I install the new motor.

More progress on "Lazarus" my '59!
I refabbed a pivot post for my vent window frame.
Though course thread instead of fine (I couldn't find a 5/16-24 NF screw), it works great!
That HF 90 amp flux core welder has sure paid for itself for me.
I painted both vent window frames and assembled them with the new seal kits. All I need now, is to set the new glass!

Put the tank in, pulled it out. Mocked up the bucket seats while it was in there to make sure everything fit. Still need to make some sort of mounts to put the seats in. But at least now I know how tall they need to be in order for me to be able to see over the steering wheel!! grin

Got one air shock mounted and left the other one across town.

Almost have the generator off so I can convert over to an alternator.

And the to-do list hasn't gotten much shorter, but I feel like there was some progress made at least wink
