All right, I know its not exactly an electrical question but... after purchasing three different wiper arms and blades from three different suppliers (they were all the same by the way) to try to get one that actually stays on I am reaching out to those of you more knowledgable than I.

How the heck do these get attached such that they don't fly off at 40 mph only to get run over by another car behind you?

You might be better off to get the "Hot Rod" style wiper arm. Mine have a 10MM headed bolt that you tighten down onto the shaft. I know it's not original looking, but it will stay on!

Thanks for that suggestion. I may just have two sets. One set for driving and one for "pretty".

I should mention that the wiper blade attachment to the arm is much more secure than just the hook as well.

Get yourself an original set of Anco's or Trico's. They will be a bit expensive. They will have the proper adapter pieces (red, blue, green) in the boxes for converting your wiper shafts to accept the more modern style of arm. Look in ebay and search for "vintage Anco" or "8" Anco", "9" Anco", etc. I'd do it for you but the links would just get deleted anyway. I had the same problems with my Jim Carter wiper arms and blades. Once those went into the trash, i got some NOS Anco's, and they have been on and in the right place for many sustained runs over 80 MPH and a couple short ones over 100mph.
