I recently purchased CPP's 'Grand-slam' kit for my 1965 Chevy 1/2 ton, SWB, C10. I decided to keep it stock height, w/ 6 lugs, keep my rear drum brakes and upgrade to front disc and go with the power booster. I am doing a frame up restro and got all the suspension and brakes on (without much instruction guidance from CPP)and although CPP warns that factory front drum wheels may not fit, I can tell you they don't.
Anyway...I tried the washer/spacer thing, just so I could move the chassis around my yard, but that was too risky. So I read more posts and got more confused as to what could work. I want to put smoothies on 'er and someone mentioned that Wheel Vintgues 15x6" would fit, but they didn't say how much clearance was needed for the backspace. My current pattern is 15" x 6", 5.5 blot circle, with the new front center hub hole at 3" and rear at 3.5". Anyone have any ideas of what will work? Thanks, Janine

You took the words right outa my BRAIN! I am doing the same as you on a 1965 C10 too. You are further along than I am however.

I've been researching and here is what I believe to be correct info. Using the stock wheels from a later model 4X4 Blazer or C10 will probably work. I think you will need to get them from a 1971 or newer truck that's a 4X4 (because the 4X4 was still 6 lug).

Aftermarket wheels will work too and I think Vintiques sells what you want. What size disc rotor did you choose for the front? I hope you'll share your info with me so I can do the same.

One thing to keep in mind is that the stud size (length and diameter) and threads on the new CPP kit might be different than stock, so factor that into the final plans.

Thanks for the info! I have next week off and I plan on contacting Vintiques as well as checking into the local junk yards, & etc, for some Blazer wheels. I'll let you know what I find out. If used wheels are too expensive I figure I can buy new, put them on to move the chassis and then put 'er up on blocks over the winter, since everything has to stay outside.
BTW...I figured out a real easy way to compress the front coil springs with a come-a-long. PM me in case you should need how I did it. (My inner spring compressor was too fat to fit into the lower cross member hole and too fat to fit between the springs...figures.) Janine

The spring compressor I borrowed from the local Autozone worked just fine. Here's a pic .

I plan to use it again when I get started on the DS spring and front suspension. I just borrowed the ball joint press today.

Problem solved! I also have a 1964 Chevy LWB that I plan on restoring and it had the older Rally style 15"x8" 4x4 wheels on it. So I tried them and they fit perfect! Yea! Janine

I did the front end of my 65 with the POL disc kit 21/2" drop. Was an easy install, ball joints were a little tough. I have after market rims 15x8, not sure on back spacing.If you have the big disc's you will probably need 16" or bigger rims.
